My Leadership Style
I am a democratic leader; who embraces a participative and open approach leadership style. However, democratic leadership is characterized by sharing of views, opinions or any other kind of input from the group or individuals in the decision-making process. The contributions from the team are valued and used as a blueprint in the decision process. In spite of the fact that the members provide different suggestions or opinions, the leader makes the final determination. In fact, more accurate and effective decisions are made when others take an active part in discussion and decision-making process; as an individual leader not always have sufficient knowledge and skills in all areas associated with the job.
Furthermore, I do support the exercise of participative leadership. Firstly, better decisions are made because the employees or team members are likely to contribute an invaluable input when making crucial decisions within organizations. Secondly, democratic leadership provides a platform where an empowerment and ownership are nurtured in the organizations. In this case, the workers play a huge role in the decision making that makes them feel being actively involved in the process that brings results and changes for organization. The team feels empowered and perceived that they are in control of the process. Thirdly, participative leadership breeds a motivation amongst the workers since they feel content when their inputs are highly valued in the decision-making process. Hence, participative leadership ensures that the core shared objectives are achieved.
Importantly, I do cherish the use of different leadership styles depending on the situations. Democratic, delegation and authoritarian leadership styles all demonstrate consistent qualities that a good leader should have. For instance, democratic leadership technique can be applied when the group members thoroughly understand the tasks and objectives. The delegation style, however, can be used when the team members are thoroughly knowledgeable and skillful with the organizational tasks.

The key to success in my nursing career is my personal attributes. These are the qualities that ensure that the delivery of health services meets the quality standards and accurately fits the patients needs. I do consider communication skills to be essential assets. The patients need to be communicated in a way they understand, their families also should be informed about the progress. Thus, the nurses have to assess the needs of the client and the family through listening and being attentive to nonverbal clues (Kitson, Marshall, Bassett, & Zeitz, 2013).In other words, communication skills are very handy in problem solving and decision making.
Nursing is a pretty stressful profession; it is characterized by traumatizing situations and psychological disturbances, as a result of accidents, injuries, and horrifying health conditions. It is necessary for me to have an emotional stability so that I can be able to accept suffering without letting it get too personal. At the same time, I need to be emphatic through the provision of comfort and showing compassion to patients’ suffering. Further, it is important to sustain emotional stability so as to provide a proper care to the patients. No one can deny that ability to cope with stressful circumstances in nursing is crucial. In this case, interpersonal skills will enable me to establish a good rapport with the fellow members, doctors, patients and other people. Speaking further, daily delivery of nursing services also requires physical endurance and problem-solving skills. Nursing work is an intense process that can involve working for long hours performing a broad range of tasks. Lastly, the problem of a health care setup is familiar to me; so I need to have and develop particular skills that can enable me to handle several problems efficiently. Problem-solving strategies tend to overlap with other skills. Hence, I still need to draw up and improve specific attributes which include developing emotional stability and building a resilient ability for being keen to details.
